Light Vehicle Inspection Training & Assessment Level 3
Do you have lots of experience and want to train to become an MOT tester but don’t have the right entry-level qualification?
We offer a light vehicle inspection training and assessment course here at our MOT training academy. This course approves you as an accredited automotive technician – you can then train as an MOT tester.
It includes 2 days training with 1 day one-to-one practical and online assessment. This training course is exactly what you need to start your new career as an MOT tester.
Entry requirements
In order to be eligible for the light vehicle inspection training and assessment you have to be in full-time employment and have at least three years of relevant work experience.
What’s next?

How long are MOT tester training courses?
It depends on the course. Our refresher course only takes half a day but some of our other courses take 3-5 days to complete.
Do I have to get MOT training every year?
If you want to keep your licence as an MOT tester then you must:
- Complete three hours of training each year
- Keep a record of your training
- Take an annual assessment
- Record your result on the MOT testing service
